Citizenship

The London Jewish Forum has been involved with a number of civic partnerships including the Faiths Forum for London and London Civic Forum where it encourages partnership and collaboration within the voluntary sector and between different faith and cultural groups within the capital.

It has worked with different communities in London to ccreate partnerships to combat all forms of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia and other forms of discrimination.

The Forum believes that public authorities should engage with all Londoners and respect their individual cultural and religious needs. We encourage both a strong cross-London approach in terms of a joined up policy on community safety whilst realising the necessity to promote conflict prevention through local forum who engage with local people.

The London Jewish Forum works with a number of groups to developing monitoring mechanisms and register alleged breaches of equality duties by public authorities.

In January 2009, the Forum organised a series of community coalition meetings under the United London Stands banner following an upsurge of violence.

It works closely with the Community Security Trust on these issues and regular meets with the Mayor for Police Issues along with the CST.
